Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in The Hague.
Basic mission of diplomats is to build bridges of friendship and cooperation between nations and states. This is also the mission of Slovene diplomacy.
We belong to the generation which has witnessed a unique process of European integration, to the generation which is not divided by borders in Europe anymore, a generation that freely travels and trades without any restrictions, that makes payments with one currency only, yet marked by our national symbols. All these are important achievements, which are the result of courage and wisdom of our leaders as well as of broad public support in all of our 28 EU member states. These are the achievements which need to be preserved, defended and further developed. Slovene diplomacy firmly supports strong and efficient EU, which we believe has not reached its peak and final frontier yet. For Slovenia more of Europe means more of Slovenia.
My personal mission, as Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to The Hague, is to develop good relations between Slovenia and Netherlands on all areas, from political and economic to cultural and scientific. Slovenia and Netherlands are closely linked-up by common values and interests, based on our EU and NATO membership; we belong to the same family of nations, we have shared commitment for the future and well-being of our two nations and shared responsibility in our efforts to secure peace and sustainable development in the world.
Slovenia and Netherland are close partners and friends, we successfully cooperate in the area of trade, tourism in both directions is growing and provides us with the opportunities to learn more about each other, to build on our personal contacts and to pave the way to our cooperation in all areas. Strong bond in relations between our two states represents also vibrant Slovene community in the Netherlands, which is highly appreciated and respected.
Apart of bilateral relations, contacts and cooperation with numerous international organizations, based in The Hague, are equally important for Slovenia: from Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, to International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court, just to name few. While being active in this organizations, Slovenia contributes its share in securing world peace, in disarmament , in strengthening of international law, in fighting threats and challenges the world is faced with.
I am convinced that with your help we can do much more in further improvement of relations between Slovenia and Netherland – therefore I invite you to surf on our website and to exchange ideas on how to build and promote our relations even better in the future.
With kind regards,
